The Castle of Nipozzano
Ancient fortress in defense of Florence since the year one thousand, the Castle of Nipozzano is the most famous and historic property of the Frescobaldi family. Thanks to the perfect balance between altitude, soil and cool and windy microclimate, the different varieties of grapes find the ideal conditions for a perfect growth and they allow to produce wines with a harmonious and strong longevity. The beginning of the wine production is documented in early 1300, in the historic Tenuta di Castiglioni in Val di Pesa, in the south-west of Florence. From the beginning the Frescobaldi wines are known for their quality and typicality, and at the beginning of 1400 the great Renaissance artists such as Donatello and Michelozzo Michelozzi as well as Lorenzo the Magnificent were prominent admirers of that wines. A century later, their wines were served on the tables of the English Court of Henry VIII and the Papal Court.
